With over 40 years of experience, Beate Degen handcrafts sterling silver pieces inlaid with stones using a technique learned during travels in Latin America. She hand-saws silver shapes, solders wire elements, and fills patterns with reconstituted gemstones and solid gemstone cabochons, using materials like malachite, lapis lazuli, mother of pearl, jasper, onyx, turquoise, porcupine quills, sea urchin spines, and bamboo.
