Peter Forte settled in Palisade in 1972 and this is his 45th harvest. After two years trying to grow organically, he settled on a program that brings fruit to market that has not been sprayed, but is not organic. He has planted with diversity in mind: dozens of varieties of plums, pluots and peaches, plus a special affection for apricots, which are often frozen out because they bloom too early. If it's a little different, he wants it in the orchard, keeping the stands interesting and unique.
