Eva was skillfully taught the art of basket weaving by her mother, Nadine Degraffenreaidt. Hand weaving baskets is Eva's biggest passion, and she especially enjoys making intricate baskets with designs that are difficult to achieve. She uses berries, nuts, flowers, vegetables, and anything that will make a stain to dye the reed for her baskets. She has been awarded numerous ribbons and teaches locally at different community colleges. She is on the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Basket Association and is a member of the Chapel Hill Basket Guild, Chatham Weavers Basket Guild and the Chatham Artists Guild.
