Red Hen Baking Co. began in Duxbury, Vermont in 1999, delivering fresh baked bread to a handful of area grocery stores 7 days a week. Today it has nearly 50 full time employees, operates its own cafe in historic downtown Montpelier, and delivers an average of 2,200 loaves per day to restaurants, farm stands, schools, and grocery stores across the state. The majority of its breads are certified organic through VOF since 2000, and 99% of the wheat and rye used is grown and milled within 300 miles of the bakery.
